Frequently Asked Questions

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Q. How can I trust a stranger in my home?

A. Although most individuals are apprehensive about allowing an unfamiliar person to care for them, assistance from a non family member can be a good thing. However, Beverly Home Care will not just send anyone to your home. Each of our caregivers must pass a rigorous process of background screening that far exceeds the state regulatory requirements and is the most comprehensive in the industry. In addition, all in home services, whether skilled or non-skilled, are supervised by registered nurses.

Q. How can you help me?

A. We begin our home care process with a careful assessment of a client’s physical, social, mental and environmental needs. We get to know your interests as well as your medical needs and analyze which home care services work best for you and your loved ones.

Q. I’ve heard independent practitioners are cheaper; is it dangerous to hire one?

A. Yes! For safety and security, each of the caregivers with Beverly Home Care is bonded and insured. Independent Practitioners are most likely uninsured, unlicensedand can hold clients responsible for injuries that occur while they are on the job. Plus, they are not subjected to our comprehensive industry exclusive background screening process.

By contracting with a legitimate company with quality credentials, the family need not worry about liability from taxes, worker’s claims or any of the other problems associated with directly hiring caregivers.

Beverly Home Care is available to assist your loved ones by offering in home care that is safe, effective, mitigates inherent risks and is affordable. Based on the needs of the client, caregivers who meet your criteria are assigned from a matching process to assure the best possible fit. All services are supervised by a registered nurse, while offering value-added clinical oversight of the patient’s health status as it will change over time.

Q. How can I pay for your services?

A. Beverly Home Care accepts multiple forms of payment from insurance to private pay. Our staff will work together with you and your loved ones to find the best method. We also accept major credit cards.

Q. What do I need to look for in a home care agency?

A. To ensure you receive high quality home care, recognizable accreditation is important. We are proud to say that we have had our policies and procedures “approved on a system wide basis” by the Joint Commission, the highest accreditation association in the health care industry.

Q. How do I get started with Beverly Home Care?

A. The first step is contacting us. From there we can conduct an initial assessment of you or your loved one's physical, social, mental and environmental needs to create a care plan that is designed specifically for you.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q.  How do we know when it is time to get help for our mom?

A.  This is a very difficult and personal decision. Most importantly, if you are concerned for your mother's safety (is she unstable on her feet, forgetting to take medicines, leaving spoiled food in the refrigerator, wearing soiled clothes or using unclean linens, or worse, falling?), it is time to seek assistance.  Is she is fearful or more forgetful?  Has she recently lost a lifetime partner?  And when she is no longer able to drive after spending a lifetime driving, she will suddenly have a much smaller, lonelier world.  Bringing in caregiver support even a couple of days a week will help with these issues and ease the transition from independence to professional support to continue her independent lifestyle.

Q. Why would I choose an agency over someone I know from church?

A.  Certainly, a family member or personal friend can ease the transition from independence to assistance for activities of daily living.  Family and friends are in our lives to love us and laugh with us and create fun memories alongside us, not to routinely do very personal activities of daily living.  Utilizing an agency, whether it is Beverly Home Care or another professional agency, gives your family the confidence that your family member is safe, well cared for, and monitored by a Director of Nursing with years of experience caring for others.  Caregivers are background checked and drug free as evidenced by yearly, random screening, and overseen by an RN (in our case, a Nurse Practitioner with more than 40 years of experience).    If your caregiver is unable to come to work one day, you have the peace of mind that there is someone else with equal expertise supporting your family member.

Q. Does Medicare pay for these services?

A. No, Medicare does not pay for Home Care.  Medicare pays for Home Healthcare.  The difference is that Home Healthcare is a short-term, skilled nursing and therapy, in home support that is offered to elders needing temporary support as they are rehabilitating and home bound.  Home Care is generally activity of daily living focused and is self pay or long term care insurance paid.  Please contact us to further discuss!

Q. How do you select your caregivers?

A. Beverly Home Care uses a number of different recruiting sites, but our primary source for our caregivers come from our own staff.  We select caregivers who have at least five years of experience working in the home, an updated CNA license, current CPR and First Aid certifications, clean background checks, and a passion for helping others.  We have a team approach to hiring and training, and our caregivers have a peer mentor who supports their growth and development.

Q. What do you do that is unique in this industry?

A. Beverly Home Care strives to be the very best home care agency in the Atlanta metropolitan area by providing unsurpassed, compassionate, and professional home care.  Additionally, we have invested deeply in technology to ensure your family member's safety when we are not alongside them.  We have researched and personally trialed technology for communication, fall prevention, medication management, and many other areas where we will advise you family.

At Beverly Home Care we recognize the key to our success lies with the development and satisfaction of our caregivers.  We are proud to say that our caregivers have yearly training and performance reviews, a career ladder for development and career goals, the best salaries in the industry, paid vacation and medical benefits.  Our caregivers are very unique in their gifts to love and care for others.  It is our mission to provide well for them as they provide well for others.
